Read Chapter Fifteen: Religion,  Absolutism and Empire 1660 - 1789  pages 491 - 517

Review the video on creating an outline and the rubric on outline grading.

Develop a detailed two page outline on the

main points only utilizing Roman numerals on pages  491 - 517: main points only.

 

In at end of your outline please answer the following summary and comparative analysis questions: 

 

1.  What did Louis XIV of France, Peter the Great of Russia, Frederick the Great of Prussia and

Maria Theresa of Austria have in common?  

 

How did they deal with those who resisted their attempts to impose absolutist rule?

 

2. How did European monarchies use the economic theory of mercantilism to strengthen the power and

wealth of their kingdoms?

 

3. Was the absolutist monarch's emphasis on sumptuous displays of authority something new?  

Is it different from the way that political power is represented today in democratic societies?
